I got this pass along iris from a friend. She's had it a long time & I think she got it from her mother.

It just started blooming. It looks very similar but it is blooming along with Elainalope which is early-mid. Alcazar blooms later. This iris also smells like licorice to me & Alcazar isn't listed as being fragrant.

It's not imperative I make an ID. I was just curious. I don't have room to buy Alcazar & grow it to check so this is just to get a possible ID.

Alcazar has 100 offspring but the index shows only 2 of them. It would be great if they also showed the inside as you did.

I'm surprised more people don't take inside pics.

I'm not surprised most of the kids don't have pics considering how old Alcazar is. I'm sure most of the kids have been lost a long time ago.

I don't have a pic of the inside of my Alcazar. But it looks like mine. I have started paying more attention to that. I also have started removing a fall and photographing that as well.

I've learned to pretty much disregard the bloom season listings. I have 21 different irises planted along my driveway, pretty evenly distributed between E, EM, M, ML and L. Last year my first iris to bloom was listed as ML. This year the first to bloom was listed M and the second was that same ML.
Btw, I have Alcazar and it is in full bloom right now, along with my neighbor's Elainealope. To me it smells like root beer; my daughter says cream soda.

Thanks Yvonne! I guess iris can be like daylilies in that respect. Registered bloom season can be way off.

Both cream soda & root beer smell a bit like licorice to me. I also have a very fragrant dianthus blooming nearby so the scents might be mingling.

I've never taken pictures of the inside of an iris before, but here is my Alcazar (don't mind my feet, lol!

Looks the same to me!
