This Iris is variegated. It was bought in Ohio. It is very prolific. Does anybody know the name of this variety?

Maybe it takes a long time to grow, but remember that if nobody plants it, nobody has it.

Thanks. It may be Zebra. Does Zebra sometimes have a beard as long as this one?

The stark purple "veining" on the proximal portions of the petals gets my attention too.

Nope. Not a doctor, but a nurse, yes.

Ok, I knew you had to be a medical person of some sort. The tip-off was your use of the word proximal.
Proximal, distal. Medial, lateral. Anterior, posterior. Extensor, flexor. Saggital, coronal, etc., etc. The first year of any medical training is heavy on descriptive vocabulary. I could always tell when talking to a patient if they had a medical background. Hilarious!

It really bugs me that they've put this in the database as Zebra. I've often wondered if it might have something to do with the Kasperek's Zebra Gardens nursery.. perhaps not.. I personally prefer the Royal Hort nomenclature as pallida 'Aurea Variegata', as it tells you exactly what it is: yellow and variegated. Ok… getting off my soapbox now..

I agree too, There are 2 different ones. Iris pallida Variegata 'Aurea' which has yellow/gold stripes, and Iris pallida Variegata 'Argentea', which has white (/"silver") stripes.
