Been a great year in the garden for me, everything's blooming even dying rhodies. I counted 17 buds on an asiatic lily, is this unusual? One next to it has 12. Can't wait to see what the blooms look like.

They are both nice bud counts for garden lilies. Florist type lilies are bred to have somewhat lower bud counts so a bouquet doesn't get too crowded. Do you have the cultivar names for your lilies?

I have to go through my records, i planted so many lilies i'm not sure, i usually only mark the named ones from Breck's. These are most likely from the 'Lily Look' series of small lilies, i bought a ton of them. I may be able to tell when they bloom. Was impressed with the "Matrix' lily color. It's like a unique blend of orange and red.

I believe it's a Lily Looks red that comes in a sixpack sold at Home Depot. Here's a pic, it's starting to bloom. These stay short and i use them a lot along pathways.

jpm995,
Let me say due to the cooler wetter temps we have out here in the PNW, we are
seeing over 10 buds per plant. You have some nice lilies!!

Karma, i noticed the red ones have the most flowers by far, and the ones in full sun seem to have the most. I have hundreds of lilies many are 'tree lilies' i went overboard on them [mostly from Breck's] when i moved here. I'm trying to balance things out with other flowers and have been on an iris kick the last year. Hydrangeas also. Having a big yard makes it interesting.

Karma, low and behold just had a tree lily bloom. I think it's 'Robert Swanson' about 5' tall.

Not Robert Swanson; it's what we call a Tango style (because of the spot pattern) Asiatic or maybe LA lily. A nice one all the same!

I think this ones Matrix also. I was in a garden center and they had a 'Yellow Matrix' with just buds. Was going to get it and forgot.

Guilty as charged. I hate when they bloom before i have a chance to plant them. And for your viewing pleasure Conca de' Orea. Over 6' and great fragrance.

@jpm995 Jim, that's not Conca d'Or. That's 'High Tea'.

I'm almost positive it's d'Or. I don't think i have any High Teas but i could be wrong. I'll check back when i have more blooms on the tree lilies, i have so many d'Or's around the yard it will be easy to tell. There was a thread about record keeping, i have to power up some old pc's and check my records.

It's 100% High Tea. Smiling
Lily (Lilium 'High Tea')
Misslabeled bulbs are common thing with Lilium.
