Did a famous hybridizer sneak into my garden last year and make a cross? (Margo, I'm talking about you).

I was surprised (and pleased) to see this out of Emerald Starburst and Small World Velvet Ice. (Yes, I did make that cross but this is NOT what I expected to see.)

Yes, I think I call that corduroy texture Rose and time will tell about the underlying plant, Dave as I think it's just one fan (possibly two). Maybe I can put it somewhere better and in more all day sun once I get rid of the non-keepers and the dust settles down.
