I've had this one for years. I love Dr. Who, so I will always have it. Mine looks like the first picture. It is an evergreen that does well in my Zone 5 garden without any protection. It reaches its registered height. Branching is not out standing, but it does bloom for about a month and all fans produce a scape. I don't have many with its color combination.

Agree with David. My picture above was more muted, but it usually looks like the 1st picture. I have never done a bud count, but it must have plenty. It usually stays in bloom about a month, and often with bouquets of blooms. I like the coloring of it, nothing else like it in my garden. Not sure mine quite reaches 30"though. Says it is a rebloomer. I have had it years and has never rebloomed for me.
