Hi! This is my first post here and I wanted to share something strange my Dangerous Mood did last year. I'm pretty new to the world of irises, so I have no idea why it happened and wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on it! Anyways, enough preamble, here's a photo so you can see for yourself:

The black falls spilt? And there also appears to be no beard?? After researching the only thing I can think of is perhaps pesticide, but all the other blooms from this plant were fine. This was in 2021, but it bloomed normal this year:

Well, just thought it was interesting and needed something to make a first post about! Nice to meet everyone.

Sometimes our iris blooms do strange things, mostly weather related but pesticide could be a factor.Just an Anomaly.

Welcome! Belle. I have what I believe is Dangerous Mood and it was sold to me as Best Bet. And after 12 years of growing it, I had a similar experience. I think it is just a Chimera but I have to say it is pretty cool. Do you like it?
If you think there is no more beauty left in the world...Plant a garden!!!

Thanks for all the welcomes! So fascinating to me how many different factors can influence an iris...makes me excited to possible witness more anomalies in time.

And Elsa, yes I do like Dangerous Mood. Funny you had a similar experience, I wonder if some varieties are more prone to Chimeras. Either way, it's a lovely iris.
