I like your writing style. It's interesting and you have a way with those words that I've never heard of, i.e., Go Gunny-Sack.

I gather you are losing your bank due to a rising river wash-out? Hope that does not continue for you.

Beavers, bears, geese, Oh My! Keep up the good work. I look forward to more blog posts. Smiling

Thank you for the compliment, it's very kind of you.

We live on a river and we are losing bank at a rather alarming rate, after living here for 30 years. It's difficult to get much help, or even advice, on how to properly deal with the problem that would be both fish and neighbor friendly.

Most of the waterways I've seen have been erosion controlled by adding a wall of rock, big rock. Even as I write that I realize you'd have to have truckloads of rock to make a difference. I sure hope you can solve your erosion problem. I'm surprised the county does not get involved to save the land. Good luck to you.

It's a salmon stream, so there's some opposition to doing anything on your own, although you are allowed to save your house. We can't afford the engineered, salmon-friendly fixed unless there's grant money for it. It costs big $$$. We will end up having some rock placed to protect the yard, but it's difficult to navigate the legality of some actions. The river has changed course over the years and our property line is now on the other side of the river in one place.
