Just wanted to let the forum members know that my husband Dennis, "Kohala" on the forum, passed away last Saturday. He so much enjoyed the Rose Forum, learned so much and had such a great time raising his roses and taking pictures and sharing them. I really appreciate all the joy you all gave him (particularly when you solved a problem he was having or gave him a 'thumbs up' for his pictures)

I'm so sorry to hear about Dennis, and sorry, too, that we have lost such a valued member of the Rose forum. I always marveled at the beautiful photographs he posted of his many roses. His posts were always interesting to read, including the descriptions of both the challenges and rewards of growing roses in the Hawaiian climate. I hope that as his roses continue to bloom, that they will bring you some comfort in the days ahead, knowing that he put his heart and soul into his garden, and created such beauty during his life on this earth.

Donna, I am so sad to hear this. Dennis was one of my favorite members here. I do remember his posting awhile ago that he had some health challenges. Please accept my profound sympathy for the loss of your beloved husband. He has been, and will be, missed here greatly. He gave all of us multiples of the joy he received from being a member here. And thank you for letting us know.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Donna, and for ours. Dennis was a highly valued and appreciated member of our forum. The joy he expressed in choosing and growing his roses was so infectious, and his photos were always exquisite. He will be missed greatly.

Thank you all for your condolences and comments. He would be humbled to know how valued he was. I am the original 'brown thumb' to his green one, so in consideration to his beloved roses, I opened up the garden to our neighborhood and most of his 'babies' have already made it to new homes with folks who will love them as much as he did and also be able to keep them alive which is more than I could do. I kept WWII Memorial, as his picture of that one made the Rose Calendar, and Lagerfeld, which was a particular favorite and our landscape guy and I will do our best with them. I've been promised photos of the roses in their new homes by many of the adopters, and if they come in as promised, I'll post. Mahalo again for your very kind comments.
