My Chinese evergreen is producing a different type of growth and I was wondering whether it was a flower bud, and if it is a flower should I cut it or leave it be? I'll attach a full size photo and a closeup of the assumed flower inflorescence.

Yes, that looks like a bud. What a beautiful plant! Keep doing what you have been doing. : )

What a beautiful plant! The flowers of Chinese evergreens are not very attractive, so I like to remove the buds so that the plant can devote its energy to its beautiful leaves.

That's a beautiful Aglaonema and yes, the growth is a bud that will eventually open and look like the one in my photo below.

It's personal preference whether to remove them or not. I'm lazy and usually let mine hang on until they turn brown and then snip them off at the base but since it's a member of the Araceae family of plants (which contains toxic calcium oxalates), if one is hanging near the edge of a table I do remove it to keep our wacky dogs from possibly getting the urge to nibble!

Thank you so much for the reply!! I think I'll probably leave the flower then and cut it when it starts to brown!

That's what I do too. I don't see any reason to cut off a part if I think it is pretty because that is why I have the plants, to look at the pretty parts. And likewise, there's no reason to NOT cut it for those who don't like it.
