Tommie Lee Joiner was on my chopping block a few years ago, but I have kept it only because it is somewhat of a mid to late bloomer, blooming all the month of July. I got it in 2008 during the height of my collecting period and then a few years later decided I didn't like doubles unless they were the hose-in-hose kind.

It only gets 20" tall, so it is a good front of the border plant. I haven't seen rebloom on it, nor have I seen rust on it. It is listed as fragrant, but I have not noticed that. Because of the short height, I don't get down that low to stick my nose into it and it must not be a strong fragrance. Hilarious!

To me, the color is just ho-hum, so consequently I have not taken many pictures of it. Branching and bud count is very low, probably around 2-way branching with 8-10 buds. It is not a color that stands out in the crowd.

It does look nice at times, like when it is blooming along with an annual like this petunia.

I just think there are many other plants that have been hybridized since the 1990's that are better than TLJ.
