I want to start a garden next year. I'm starting early with my planning. There are rabbits in the area. Am I going to successfully be able to grow tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, etc with rabbits in the area? I don't want the tall table gardens. I'm trying to do this cheap. Is it possible? Thank you!

Really depends on how many rabbits you have.
Some veggies like peas and beans are rabbit magnets... hard to grow them without some fencing.

Other veggies like squash?
Probably not going to be bothered.

I usually don't have trouble with rabbits eating tomato and pepper plants, but the deer love pepper plants.

All it takes is a little fence 2 or 2 1/2 feet high, made of chicken wire and stakes enough to hold it up, to keep those critters out. You want the 1" mesh wire, not the kind with bigger holes cuz baby rabbits can hop right through it. Rabbits are very unpredictable as to what they'll eat in your garden. I think they have fads, and what they go for varies from year to year and season to season.

As Stone said, it really depends on how many rabbits you have in your area.
I have them in the area of both gardens and they are at most just an annoyance even in the worst years.
But then I have a bird ( or it is supposed to be) feeder that drops , or has knocked down by lard butt squirrels, food on the ground and furry critters can feed on that, rather than my garden. I tip my hat to you.

My tomatoes, peppers, squash, potatoes have never been eaten by rabbits.
Beans, peas, broccoli, sweet potatoes have been eaten multiple times.

Tomatoes are a good beginner plant, assuming you like them. One cherry tomato plant will probably make tomatoes from July- frost.
Plant it and they will come.

I think you better watch the documentary before you start. It's called Peter Rabbit.
