Look at the beautiful variegation on on this sans pup . Would it survive on its own though 🤔

Sure, just snap the rhizome to separate it.

No problem! The rosettes are connected shallowly under the surface by a rhizome. It will snap like a carrot and you can easily separate the rosettes.

I would be wondering if there is enough Chlorophyll present for it to survive on its own?

That is beautiful @ketsui73 It must be a sport. Maybe you can wait until it is slightly bigger? Hopefully it will not revert back once separated.

Great illustration Tiffany! I had to do this on my clearance rescue birds nest. They were all mixed with the tender succulents and I knew it was just a matter of time before they start taking over and choking everything else. Their roots were starting to get tangled.

I would wait just a bit more, like wait till it is half as big as mother plant, before chopping off and removing new plant. And better to delay to mid Spring. Cooler season is just around the corner, so it may take longer to acclimate again to grow newer root system.

@tarev
@purpleinopp
@GigiPlumeria
Thanks very much for the advice everyone.
Plenty of room in the pot so I can leave it be till next spring. It's worth giving it a go 😀
Gigi I would imagine pups are more likely to revert than not but interesting to see what happens . Hurdle one is keeping this alive on its own

I will recommend to wait until it is bigger before separating it.
And I think it will just grow ok, sanse is a bomb proof plant here, I have seen a lot of almost all yellow or silver white in the market here, so I will assume that it will be alright.

Steve, Just now seeing this.
What you have is a sport called 'Solid Gold'. Yours seems to have almost no green so it would be very fussy plant and could rot easily. I would leave it on the mother forever. I have some with more green that I separated years later and it never did grow well after that. It is still alive but just existing so to speak.
