It seems the past few years have seen a new trend: broken colors. This are flowers that show stripes, stipples or other variations. The first one I'll show is 'Explosion in the Paint Factory.'

The broken color varieties seem to create a different bloom every time. Here is 'Richard J Howard' once more:

I think ' Wallingford Flamethrower' is the prettiest bloom of broken colors I have seen, love it.

I tried to look it up here but it doesn't pop up… I'm wondering if it's a Clown Pants kid, with the stripes on the sepals

As I suspected it is a Rich Howard seedling. I think I saw it on the LA last year (he was selling seeds from it).
Definitely looks from Clownpants.

Wonder when he'll be selling that one? 🧐 Just a matter of time until it ends up here…I'll try to be persuasive, next time I see him…perhaps, some eyelash batting?
