My 2 yr old Fabian suddenly began drooping all over. It is about 2 ft tall. No pests detected and I water weekly usually when top 1 to 2 inches are dry. It receives indirect light from west window. I am in AZ. Thoughts anyone?

The one branch looks like it is broken. Something is causing the foliage to not get any moisture from the roots. That can happen if there is no moisture in the soil or if the pot does not have a drain hole and causes the roots to rot, so the rotted roots can't do their job of delivering moisture to foliage anymore. Which do you think is the problem?

Thanks for responding. The branch that looks broken fell over because the stem in that spot got soft and thus, bent over. The pot has a drainage hole and I've always let the water run through before putting the pot back in place. I'm thinking of repotting it just to see what the bottom of the plant looks like. It may be root rot which I am hoping it isn't. Thanks again.

With the size of the tree vs. the size of the pot, combined with drain hole, I would be very surprised if this plant was able to rot. Once per week does not sound often enough to water to me, especially in dry air.

Thanks again for your response. You are probably correct. I repotted and the roots looked okay, just very thin and not a whole lot of them. Must have been that it was not getting enough water. Going to keep a better watch on soil moisture and see if it will come back. I've cut off a bunch of stems and branches that looked like they would fall off anyway. Wish me luck. I appreciate all your thoughts and suggestions. You help to make this forum an important entity.

My pleasure. : ) With a plant that is small enough to pick up, picking it up may be the best gauge of moisture. Right after thoroughly watering, it should feel heavier, vs. when the soil is dry. It's not good to gush water on a plant every day, but the catch phrase advice lately of "let it dry out" or similar seems to be causing some plants to be killed from drought. Letting the soil get literally completely dry is not a good experience for most non-cactus plants, and can be fatal for many of them. Although the needs can fluctuate from changes in temp, humidity, day length, most plants do best in a relatively consistent environment.
