I have multiple large clumps of this historical plant in MI as a parental legacy. Some typical stats are 15 buds and three branches in the unfertilized, un-irrigated show garden clump in full sun. Hall's Pink [not registered with AHS] will throw fused blooms and polymerous flowers. It grows & blooms reluctantly in my sandy TX soil

Nice pictures of it, Dave. With unusual blooms like that, it would be fun to have in the garden. Hope you don't mind a few questions:) I've seen a wide range of heights and bloom sizes listed on websites. How tall and what size are the blooms for you? And those sites show it as a late bloomer. When does it bloom for you?

If you or anyone else has historical info about Hall's Pink, I would love to hear it. Who is "Hall?" One site has a reference of "(Hall, 1952)" behind the name.

I noticed that 14 people have it listed in their plant list, so it must be pretty popular. There are no children listed, so I guess any crosses made with it would have to list HP as a seedling. Which makes me wonder what kind of kids it makes and how many it has!

It seems the database here should somehow note that this is not a registered plant, so people will know and not pass it along as being a registered plant. Some people might just assume that the registration information was mistakenly not included. That might be one reason so many people have it? They actually thought that Hall's Pink was a registered name? Should it even be shown with ' ' around the name? I was thinking that did indicate the plant was registered?

@bluerose23 I didn't measure this year but had ~4.5" blooms on 29" scapes last year when it was wetter. [Also had up to 23 buds Smiling ...see also NGA flower comments] FFO 7/11/21 7/20/22 in MI which makes it mid-season there. FFO ~6/1 in TX which is probably late-mid there.

My understanding is that the breeder is David Hall; this was reported to be the 1st [ edit: "flamingo pink" ]daylily. I think this is Hall-D.F. on the AHS database with 563 registrations.

T-mail if you want some, I have plenty. Whistling

Like Dave, I have a bunch of this in my yard. Probably among the first ( all very old) cultivars that I bought in the mid nineties from a now defunct Daylily farm in Northern Vermont.

This year, HP started blooming July 10 and ended August 1, making it a ML plant in my yard. The plants are not uniform, some are taller, some are shorter. They do throw more polys than any other flower in my yard. They are very pretty, with a delicate old fashioned form and nice color and eye. Extremely hardy, I've never done anything extra for them, yet all the clumps continue to thrive close to thirty years later.

That review and especially that last photo makes me wonder why the plant was never registered.

I used to have this one, gave it away to local friends when I became more interested in round, Ruffled daylilies. It always bloomed and grew well, and still grows well for my friends now. I remember it having polymerous blooms, and thought at the time how unusual that was.

2023 update, still healthy, with a long bloom time, July 11 to August 3 this year. A pretty poly was caught on camera.
