It has rained all night and the weather people are saying 12-13 inchs before its over with. We only needed about an inch to settle the dust on the dirt road, not wash it away.

Yesterday was another I PLEASED KATHLEEN DAY, which is very rare as we all know. This day was really special because of four seedlings she "almost" got excited about. She didn't do back flips or change her expression, but after being with her forty years I can tell when her heart skips a beat.
This was the spider seedling of the month
EMERALD STARBURST X ALDERSGATE 10"

I have never seen anything this color.
RAINBOW SPANGLES X OOPS ANOTHER MIRACLE 9"

This is the only two year old I took a photo of yesterday
I flaged it to keep because it has a killer scape and
the bloom isn't bad.

this fall, another with a great scape. This was
the four that Kathleen almost got excited about.

I just got ES this past fall so it will be getting used this year. I got Kim a lot of dips to use this year. I think we got rid of all of our Aldersgate, but I do have a Tet Aldersgate (maybe) that I will get the pollen checked next time we go to Larry Grace's.

Now you're cooking, Fred. I love all of them. Wow, that first one is big.
Love the big red eyed one, and the last gorgeous purple has a few teeth showing too.
Good job. I agree with Kathleen.

Fred, what fun you must be having every day. I am not a spider fan, but your first seedling in today's post is fantastic. Love those curls. Thanks for posting. I look forward to your photos each day. Can you post more photos?

Rained on and off all day yesterday, only got about 1.50" just enough to to settle the dust on that road for a couple of days. I believe the two year seedling beds are close to peak bloom, it's just a mass of color out there now. I have way to many seedling(6000) for one person to look at and try to decide what will make the cut to keep. I could post more photos, but as we know it takes a lot of time getting them ready to post. I take a lot more photos than I post and only post what I think will peak your interest, and it's already peaked my interest. I am up early to do what I need to do on the computer and seldom get back here later in the day.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
Michele and I were talking about Tet Womans Touch a couple days ago,
I had it treated several years ago, but it had very little tet pollen, I was able to get a few seed
from it. This is a seedling from one of those seedlings.

I wish I had the energy to drive down to Fred's and see all his seedlings. I could spend days just walking and looking and I'D BET THE FARM, that I would find more to keep than he does. Let's see, 6000 seedlings. I'd find 5,998 that I wanted. I'll say it again, "I've never seen a daylily that I'd pull out of the ground and throw on the compost pile." I'd just be like a 6 year old on Christmas morning, WILD!!!

Another very nice batch, Fred. Don't know how you are going to have time
for 6000. Whew, just the thought makes me tired. Exciting though, seeing that
many in bloom.

The way this weather is doing I want have that much to deal with next year, I have set very few seed due to rain and only have until the first week of June before I stop.
Thanks for the comments everyone, and all are welcome to come help.

This is the dip seedling of the year so far, it's a
two year old I moved from the seedling field last
fall. It has a show type scape with lots of buds
and branching from EMMA'S CURLS.

Ive got some great big scapes this year, but ugly flowers. Well, not terribly ugly, but not that I want to keep. Nothing like yours, that for sure.

This has been beat to death by the rain, I only posted it because it was different than the first bloom, which had its sepals askew. Cant wait to see the third bloom. Third is first bloom on a noid seedling, I think it will have teeth if we could get some decent weather.
