I have Fall Blooming Irises that have flower stalks (already a foot high) in mid-November here in Columbus Ohio. Last year they bloomed in early October. Low temperature is going to be in teens starting Friday with highs only around 30 to 32) and then stay cold the following week. Should I just cut the stalks off and hope they'll bloom indoors, or can I dig up and pot the whole plant and bring indoors - and then replant in garden after blooming is finished.

Today is Monday, November 14th.

The cold front will come through on Thursday. Forecast is as follows.

Thursday (Nov. 17th): Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24.

Friday (Nov. 18th): Partly sunny, with a high near 30.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 19.

Saturday (Nov 19th): Mostly sunny, with a high near 32.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 19.

Sunday (Nov 20th): Sunny, with a high near 31.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 19.

Monday (Nov. 21st): Sunny, with a high near 37.

Unfortunately, so often the case with late rebloomers in my climate as well. Lifting the plant is not a good idea, rather cut the stalks. I cut these stalks last week - 'Rosalie Figge' and 'Over and Over'.

Yes, that's good advice. Disappointed in that the plant ONLY seems to bloom in the fall. I purchased and planted the rhizomes in the fall of 2020. Last year it bloomed once - in early October. Same this year - except that it waited until early November to start producing flower stalks. I can't figure out why it waited so late in the season to start the bloom process. October was a little below normal temperature-wise, but extremely dry. First 10 days of November were way above normal but still no rain. I guess it's possible that the stalks started to emerge in October and I just didn't notice them.

This is interesting thread to note.

I have irises that bloom regularly in the fall but have not once bloomed in the Spring. TB Faithful and True being my biggest "offender" of that. Four reblooms, but never a spring bloom.

I wonder if some rebloomers just perform as if fall is their spring. It's really rather an interesting concept.
Does anyone know how to stop spending money on flowers?

I have daffodil like green shoots coming out of ground and are 6in tall right now. Not sure if they will bloom next spring Rolling my eyes. Maybe the bulbs are crooked.
