I've had Embers of Vesuvius since 2015. I'm not quite sure why I tend to have flowers with the "embers" when so many others do not. I will say that this year many of the flowers did not have hardly any spots. Except for a short drought I couldn't say what was different this year.
In general, EOV has done very well for me. Strong, sturdy scapes hold up the flowers. I'd say my scapes are taller than registered. It also blooms a bit earlier in my garden (early-midseason).I have it planted quite far in the back of my garden but I can always tell when it is blooming due to the brightness of the flowers. It has bloomed very reliably for me and has never been bothered by pests, drought or temperature swings. Definitely a keeper.
