Hey everyone.

This is an outcry to my fellow (European) Japanese iris lovers.

Is anyone familiar with a good breeder/supplier of Iris ensata in continental Europe? And I don't mean the run of the mill online garden center webshop with 2 generic varieties for sale...
The UK has quite a few, but due to Brexit import prices are outrageous, so (propably) a no go.

I've only come across 1 so far that I find reliable (Joosten Iris kwekerij), but what they have on offer is not to my taste....

Thanks in advance.

Have you checked with the Middle-European Iris Society? They should have information about the growers and hybridizers in Europe.

Cayeux in France listed ensata at the bottom of their page but I didn't see it in the catalog, just pseudos and their hybrids. Too bad, there are a number of growers/breeders in my neck of the woods, Lee Walker and Chad Harris come to mind.

If you can contact these people they may be able to help you. Long time breeders usually have a lot of connections, especially since they may want to get new plant material to work with to enhance their hybridizing programs.

If it is OK with you I can move this post to the Iris Forum where you should get more input.

I used to grow a lot of Japanese irises and dabbled a bit in breeding; had a pretty nice collection at one time. I still have a few of my favorites.

Irises
there is a collector in Europe with an amazing collection of beardless irises. He also has Ensatas. But I bought mostly pseudatas from him. Very good planting material. https://daylily-phlox.eu/categ...
