The freeze did a number on my plants - glad I harvested, and covered what I could. Winter vegetables took a beating but will survive, not sure about the banana tree though. :(. We had a freeze last year, too, but it was shorter and later in the season, so I was still getting tomatoes in January. Not this year!
Deciding to make lemonade from lemons, I planted a bunch of the seeds today from the swap that require cold stratification. Cold strat in Florida usually means I have to sacrifice food space in my refrigerator, so I decided to take advantage of this nighttime cold and winter sow some. I planted alstroemeria, roses, hellebores, and a few others I "bought" in the swap. If this works, I am going to have a beautiful garden. And I will commit to finding better ways to protect things from sudden freezes here!
