They are very nice pets, but the way they are treated is a shame. They should have at least a 2 gallon container with plants, rocks, and gravel. They require feeding once a day, with pelleted Betta feed. They can thrive at room temperatures (my container is unheated), but shouldn't be allowed to get much below 70F or above about 72F (you might want to check on that online). Being kept in tiny vases with only plant roots to eat is cruel. I've had quite a few of the little guys over the many years and they really are very intelligent and likable. Hope you can find one you like!
