I've been growing this for many years in the same pot from a small plant, and it sprouted a pup long ago. I have no idea of what it is, but I seem to recall Madagascar was in the name, be it fern, palm, or ??. If you have any experience with these, I would like to divide the two if possible.
Thank you,
Chuck

Its a cardboard palm - Zamia furfuracea.

I don't know if you can divide it. Sago palms (relatives) are dividable but, when I have seen cardboard palms in Hawaii, they are great big mounds of little trunks.

I wouldn't divide it. We grow these her was landscape plants. They are Cycads like the Sago Palm and Coontie Palm and many others.
If it were in the ground in a warm zone it would be a whole lot bigger by now likely with a spread of 4-5 feet. Growing in a pot keeps it small. You can certainly repot it, and when you have unposted check to wee if you think it could be divided safely. But sometimes these grow like ponytail palms, they kind of sprout a new head that is dependent on the root system of the mother for survival. I wouldn't take a blade and try to saw it off without being able to visualize the base
