I planted SP Behavior Pattern in the Spring of 2019 but didn't see any flowers until the 2021. As soon as it did flower, it was a wow! I love appliqués and this one was a really great one. I had bloom from July 11- August 9th the first year but only got 10 flowers.

This year I got 19 flowers but a shorter bloom period lasting from July 5th ( my birthday!) to the 23rd. I have no scape information, I haven't been keeping track of the front bed.

Still, I'm guessing it will do even better this summer. We've had plenty of water this Fall and Winter, so it won't be struggling through drought conditions like last year…if the water keeps up, anyway.

I'm noticing from the photos that occasionally, the flower is a sculpted relief but I've never seen that here.

I've had it for years in my Zone 5 garden and it comes back and blooms every year even though it's listed as Evergreen and they don't always survive here. It doesn't have a lot of blooms but it's in an area that is shaded until afternoon.

I like that this one has such variation in coloration and applique. I wasn't sure I wanted it at first, but decided I like it. There have been times it looked really purple, and times it looked like a pinkish/rose/brown. I prefer the purpler eye when the temps are low. Sometimes a little sculpted, but rarely a prominent effect. Decent increase, but didn't rebound terribly well when I moved it a couple years ago. Still alive but doesn't seem to be loving its new cooler spot in our chilly little valley. Before it was moved:

2023…Not a good year for SBP. I barely caught any flowers on camera, only two. I know there were more, I can see buds and bud scars in my two photos but it clearly didn't have a prolific season or there would be more evidence. I assume it's still recovering from the drought of 2022 and will have a much better season next year.
