Now that I've been shopping at Lidl fairly regular, I figured it was time for a thread. I thought about combining it with the Aldi thread, but decided against it, obviously.

Lidl has this planter on sale this week. I stopped Wednesday after work to look it over. They had at least 20 in stock. I went over this morning, and there were 2, and one was cracked. Although I wanted 4, I took the one that wasn't damaged.

I'm going to use it for spring veggies such as lettuce and spinach. Hopefully, being raised and having the lid, it will keep out the critters.

If anyone has a Lidl nearby that still has them, I would appreciate it if you cold pick up 2 or 3 of them. I can pick them up at the spring swap, or make other arragnements.

Thanks!

There's Lidl literally across the street (divided highway) from my work.
I've seen good prices on plants and flowers. Not gone often but when I saw the plants they seemed more of a permanent offering. Course, this store is 3 or even 4 x the size of my usual Aldi.
Plant it and they will come.

I stopped in to Lidl and Aldi after work today.

Aldi has butter for 2.49/lb, limit 6

Lidl got in more of those planters I like, so I got them. I also got a white camelia and some bicolor azaleas, all good to zone 7.

Anybody know where to buy odd chicken parts (back, neck) to make stock? Whole Foods occasionally has frozen parts @ Thanksgiving but only parts I've seen lately are "paws" at Walmart.

have an Amish/Mennonite market nearby? Maybe there.

Way up in White Marsh area, RIchardson Farms has a meat counter and Gita used to buy their bags of bones and trimmings for stock. (from deboning other cuts? maybe include backs?)

I feel as though main groceries are just getting packages from elsewhere and not doing their own cutting of any chicken.
Plant it and they will come.

Aldi is sometimes tricky with gardening stuff...a long time ago I bought I do not even remember, it was something electrical. You must buy the batter charger AND the battery also. I just picked up the item. When I opened it at home, no battery, no battery charger. Went back, they were out, did not have them. I checked for a long time and finally gave up, returned it. Then I also bought a saw, it was on the box, made in Zwitzerland... also electric...this time I bought the battery and charger. When I got home, I noticed ONLY the saw was from Swiss, the motor, battery and charger made in China--So please check carefully! Some of the plastic containers that I bought: the cover did not close tightly, I could just lift the lid up, in other words, it is not tightly fixed. Some of them are good----They sometimes have very good looking pots and pans made from cast iron, but I do not need any----

This one was from Lidl. I've had good luck with both places but yes, gotta read what the package includes for sure.

Lisa, my H-Mart has necks, and backs, and feet. Check if there is a Korean store nearby your home. Lotte, H-Mart, or even 99 Ranch or Ranch 99. Or Chinese grocery stores, like Good Fortune, or Great Wall or if there are Latino stores. I have plenty of those near me, all within 5 miles, they are not as big as others further away....but soon there will be a big Whole Food near me with a restaurant. Still kind of far for me to walk, since my car is non-working now. I should use the bus.

Went to Lidl yesterday. They had shelves for gardening and all kinds of gardening tools that I already have----They also have my favorite Daisy Cottage Cheese--and Sour cream in a tube! Unfortunately I did not take their flyer----I also forgot my password, but my phone number works too---and I already purchase lots of stuff from H-Mart in the same shopping center. Like spicy tofu, Kit-Kat green tea, Turkish yogurt (with salt and mint--Yummy), frozen pork dumplings, also pork to make satay---the butcher did not understand my question, "is this meat tender enough to make satay?" and all kinds of soft and silken tofu to make a stew, with the accompanying seasoning pouches. Too bad I only have one stomach, can only eat only a limited amount of food--

Able to go shopping on my own again, since now I have a car again (automatic transmission)---have to get used to driving again after my car quit on me Feb. 10 (manual transmission)!

Tried to live without a car, but it does not work, very frustrating, because the busses are not reliable-a 5 min. drive, I had to take 2 busses---and then also lugging the groceries is no fun, although I used a cart with wheels, you still have to lift it in and out the bus, it would work if I did not have arthritis, and were a lot younger.----

I picked up one of those cherry pitters at Lidl a week or two ago and finally put it to the test today. LOVE IT!

I churned through 6 pounds of cherries in about 30 minutes. It would have gone quicker if not for the stems.

So I was able to resist picking up the cherry pitter today but all this talk about the immersion blender I realized how much I missed mine so bought that instead and if anybody needs a mite vacuum, Lidl has one Rolling on the floor laughing truth be known I'm not sure how that differs from a regular vacuum, but just in case you needed one.

Bought a box with 4 big fluffy croissants from Harris Teeter but found out I prefer the much more slender ones from LIDL One HT has excellent Nigiri sushi with salmon. Found out she does not eat sushi with raw fish! Will go to LIDL today. Hopefully they have the Orinoco Romano there.

So I stop at Lidl after work for rice pudding and biscuits. $160 later, I'm headed for the car. They are starting to put out their spring bulbs at $2 a bag... Calla lilies 2 for 2, Hymenocallis Sulphur Queen 2 for 2, Freesia 20 for 2. I'm pretty sure you get the idea. Whistling

Yeah, so I thought that was too good to be true. I was thinking about it last night and it just didn't add up. I pulled out the receipt and actually looked at it. Most of what I thought was $1.99 was actually $3.99. Still, callas for $2 isn't bad. Same with the Hymenocallis Sulphur Queen. Online, they start at $4 each and go up to $9 plus.

Woot!! They had some left! Question, though is 399 a good price for two bulbs?

Chantell,

Yes, that's a good price. A quick Google search shows them starting at $4.05 each up to $20.00 each.

The Lidl price is $2.00 each.
