This was a house warming gift and it had a tag that has gotten lost. It blooms in July.

I do not remember who gave it too me. I think it was from one of the neighbors when I first moved in. I asked but know one remembers giving it to me. I know I did not buy it because I do not buy red flowers for my garden.

I believe there are now over 70,000 registered daylilies. Add in that many hybridizers sell the seedlings that they don't want.... so there are a LOT of daylilies on the market. Many, many of them look alike.

Once in a while someone will post a photo of a "No ID" that has some distinguishing characteristic and we can take a guess --- but even then it's just a guess. You can never know for sure.

With one like you have - there are many that it could be.

If you had a list of ones you bought at nursery, for example, and didn't know which one this was - well then we might have a chance at ID --- but to know from the photo --- there are just to many that it could be.

I think it is always best to keep a plant unidentified than to guess at a name when you can't be sure.

My advice is to enjoy it and consider it to be "that red one from the neighbor..."

I'm sorry Cinta, that I didn't see your post earlier, and didn't welcome you when I did! I sometimes wonder if we need a person here to be a sort of "welcome committee" but then, I'm not sure how we would keep track of who is new. I know its hard for me to remember the names of people who don't post all the time, and I'm a moderator So sometimes I miss welcoming someone just because I didn't realize they were new, not because I didn't want them to feel welcome.

The Porch Swing and Weather chat threads move so fast, and with a lot of people posting - some new folks can feel left out... but I truly do not think it is intentional - it's just that the thread moves so quick. If someone new posts at 8 a.m. and then someone else gets home from work, sits down after dinner to read the thread - there might be 30 posts since the new person made theirs in the morning. I make a new thread every 500 posts and sometimes that means every two weeks!

Juli, there is no apology needed. I was not hurt. I realized it was a long shot. It is like Hostas there are so many it is almost impossible to name that plant.

I have been around different topics but this was the first post in daylilies. So I am not new to ATP.
