I'm contemplating buying a couple of their tree peonies. Does anyone have recent experience with them or can anyone recommend the best places to buy tree peonies?

I have been buying peonies regularly from Solaris Farms over the past 5 years. Without question, the quality and variety of peony roots that Nate Brenner provides is extremely good and I highly recommend buying from this supplier.

Solaris has 24 positive comments and 0 negative comments.

I highly recommend Solaris Farms for tree peonies. For most of my purchases, I always got a bloom the spring following the year it was planted. There are some that will take an extra year to bloom. Overall I have very positive experience with them.

I have bought from Solaris for over a decade. Have always been extremely satisfied with both roots and service.

I have made large purchases from Solaris for the last 4 years, their roots and plants are absolutely worth every penny and they almost all bloom the first year when planted well in the Fall.

I have been satisfied with Solaris. You really need to check out the catalog when they first open it as the rare ones sell out quickly.

As far as another reputable place to buy woody peonies, Adelman's sell theirs that are grown on their own roots ( not grafted to a herbaceous root)
LG - My garden grows with love and a lot of hard work.

Nate is going to be the hybridizer of our generation. His intros are gorgeous and he breeds for stem strength and looks of the shrub as well. You can't go wrong ordering from Solaris, the only thing I'd recommend is to look at pics of plants from his website that you're not familiar with on FB on one of the peony groups or even google, his is NOT a good photographer! Many times I've completely overlooked beauties on his site because his pics show a relatively bland looking flower!
Adelman's is alway wonderful to order from, too. They send huge, own root divisions of tree peonies. I appreciate that more now as I'm in an area with really wet winters and battle rot of tree peony grafts. Another good one that hasn't even opened for the year is Lyndaker Farms, also huge, own root divisions. If you're interested go on their website and sign up for notifications from the site, they open a day or 2 early for those who receive those notifications.
