I just tuned in to the live Cornell birdcam in Ithaca, New York, and it really cheered me up. Why you may ask ~ it is because the spring peepers are out peeping their little hearts out. Although it can be extremely loud if one is closeby, I find the sound very calming. A sure sign of spring.

Love the sound , lets you know Spring is here. I drive through 7 miles of woods on ride home and hear them for most of the ride.

Seven miles of spring peeper serenade, WOW. I would probably stop the car on the roadside and just sit for a few hours listening to the chorus. Can never get enough and it is only occurring for such a short time.

I too love hearing the peepers, telling me spring is imminent, or arrived, I guess that depends on your definition of spring.

Regarding background nature noises, we were listening to coverage of the PGA tournament and heaing redwing blackbirds clear as anything in the background.
Plant it and they will come.

Cardinals singing more in spring, American Goldfinches and their cute little noises, and the Red-Bellied Woodpeckers get very vocal in spring. I'll even admit to liking the cooing sounds that mourning doves make.

I love Cornell's Red-Tailed Hawk cam the most, and then probably the bird feeder cam 2nd.

There's a bunch of little wrens that keep saying "Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy." I think they are here all year.

Right now we're enjoying the sound of baby ravens; a pair of ravens always nests where the woods meet our yard, and the babies are extremely demanding right now. It won't be long before the whole family is in our yard with mom and dad teaching the babies to find their own food; by then the "babies" will be almost as large as the parents, but still hop around and beg for food Smiling

Big babies ha!
We should soon be hearing hungry baby wrens on the deck in my potted plant.
Plant it and they will come.

Ah baby raven voices. They certainly are not the most melodical but I enjoy hearing them anyway. Smiling

I don't think I've heard baby ravens before. For me though, Red-Winged Blackbirds can make these ear-piercing shrieks that makes me cringe every single time. That I could do without.

The juvenile ravens are just what I would call "squawky", and not very loud; the adults can be quite noisy, though!

My first happy message of spring is the bluejays singing. They don't sing any other time time of year but early spring.
The other sound I look forward is frogs peeping at night in a pond behind our property. But there hasn't been much of that this year, and I'm worried.
More recently, a pair of geese saunters by some evenings, just this side of our hedge, with their brood of seven hatchlings between them, constantly gur-gurking to reassure the young ones. Needless to say, we keep very still not to spook them out toward the highway.
Behind every opportunity is a disaster in waiting.

I like hearing the spring peepers and seeing the migrating birds in springtime.
My favorite sound of spring is the Chuck Wills Widow call, commonly called a night hawk. They are related to the Whipporwill.
When I walk my dog at dusk, we will see them dusting their feathers on the driveway. They stay just ahead of us but are fun to watch. When driving after dark, their eyes reflect the headlights and glow red. Their calls at night and the mourning dove calls in the morning are definite sounds of spring for me. Lovey dubby
