Thread OP

I am relatively new to growing dahlias. I ordered a few new varieties this year from some online gardeners and one of the new plants "coralie" came up looking like this!? The top almost looks like a corn cob. I cut back the original shoot concerned that it was an infection. Any thoughts!?

I live in KY and have plenty of nearby plants without these bumps.

Wow! I've never seen anything like that. My guess would be that it's some type of gall. Maybe leafy gall? I would dig up the tuber to see if it has any weird growth on it. The main thing is getting that plant away from your others. If you have a county extension office nearby I'd suggest taking the plant or photos there to see if they can identify the problem. Those offices can be a huge help! Best of luck and welcome to the dahlia forum!
