Is this a male flower?

Yes, a male flower. Female flowers come with plant maturity - the plant is not old enough yet.

The female blooms will have a little (BB sized) melon at the base of the yellow bloom.
Maybe it takes a long time to grow, but remember that if nobody plants it, nobody has it.
