It looks like the database entry for this species needs renaming to Salsola tragus:
Russian Thistle (
Salsola squarrosa subsp. squarrosa
)
Prickly Russian Thistle (
Salsola tragus
)
Rather than propose the changes directly, I'm bringing them up here in case other related plants may also need adjustment. Here is the CoL entry:

It looks like the genus name needs to change and the subspecies need to be merged with the species. I have not looked to see if there are other plants in the genus which changed names.
