Just beautiful. When I see the sandy soil you have to deal with, wow, you are doing a GREAT JOB. I don't know which is worse, my heavy clay or your sand. If we could ship half of what we have to each other, perfect! *
Central Florida (Zone 9a) I recycle, reuse, repurpose!
You know it, Girl! I don't mind the sand. No, it doesn't have tilth, but some plants thrive in it. I had the clay when we lived in the great state of Tennessee and the same thing applies. Most of the plants at the top of the bank are Florida natives or tropical plants. They will survive.
I've been working this land for 30+ years and mostly I've got the heavy clay improved with TONS of compost. My neighbor keeps moaning about the terrible soil and how she can't grow flowers but her husband rakes up and BURNS every fallen leaf, mowed grass, etc. I keep trying to teach by example, but no good.
