Oftentimes, there are important issues that come up during the course of a swap, before it, or after it. This is where I will post those important notices, so keep an eye out here for updates, particularly as we get closer to the swap start time and during the swap.

It is also important to check your Tree-mail for notices that I may send to you directly--or to the group as a whole--usually, in the month directly preceding the swap and during the swap.

Note: The first Tree-Mail for this swap went out on Sept 7 with some important info. One notable piece of information is the change in swap fee due to substantial increases in postage since fall of last year. Another note-worthy change is the implementation of a 'check-in' procedure for this year to protect members from losing tickets during the bidding process.

I got burned last year. 100% agree the implementation of a check in process is a great idea!

Hi
Is there a deadline for adding things to one's offering list? Can things be added once the swap has begun?
thanks!

No deadline, and yes they can be added in mid swap. Trying to have everything listed a week before the swap is best, however.
1. It allows a more realistic estimate of how many tickets to give out.
2. It gives everyone time to wishlist your offerings before the swap starts.

Roughly a week before the swap, I will send out a Tree-mail to everyone that is registered for the swap, calling on everyone to respond to the tree-mail and confirm that they are still participating. Anyone who does not respond to the tree-mail by at least 2 days prior to the swap will be removed so that we don't have anyone accidentally registered but not participating. Thumbs up

So...as a noobie I am curious as to how the look of the page will change when the swap opens. (8pm EST on Oct 27, right?)

Cori,
A notification will appear in your system messages when the swap starts. At that point, you will likely have to "refresh" your wishlist to get the change (addition of little treasure chests to the listings) to appear on your page. Then, click a chest, follow the directions, lather, rinse and repeat until you run out of tickets.
When you refresh, click the "exclude no quantity" button above it also. This will prevent accidentally trying to dib on items that are already gone, and allow you to focus on what is still available.
You'll probably mess up some at first, but each evening will get smoother.
I go through my wish list and clear out everything that I've already dibbed on, and the things that are already gone, and re-prioritize my list after the dust settles each evening.
Have Fun! Hurray!

Just checking in to make sure each person got their questions answered. (Brad, I am going to come back in just a bit to answer yours.) Does anyone still feel like they need any clarification to the questions they asked? Smiling

DND,
How do you want the $12 to be sent to you, and what is the address to which the seeds should be sent?
How many tickets does each of us receive?
Thanks for organizing this swap!

Am I right in thinking that the number of tickets we'll start with is meant to be a surprise? Hurray!

Hello, everyone! I quietly changed the multiplier yesterday and wanted to see what happened yesterday and today with people dropping and added seeds, because there has been a lot of activity in the swap in both directions. Just in the last couple of days, at least 10 pages of additional seeds have been added and a number of people have said they just didn't have time and had to leave.

I still feel pretty good about the balance that the new multiplier should give us:

The new multiplier is 4

...that is up from 3. Because our swap is a full week this year (instead of 5-6 days, like it sometimes is), this will give us quite a few seeds

I should note, however (hint, hint! Big Grin ) that it isn't unheard of for me to bump the multiplier mid-swap to give people a chance at a few extras if there are lots of seeds remaining, though. ;)

The check-in time frame has finished. Anyone that has not replied 'yes' to one of the emails I sent out will be removed from the swap within the next two hours (prior to the swap start). At last check, there was only one person at risk of removal that had seeds entered into the swap. Please check your Tree-mails for an update that will be posted in the next half an hour; this will let you know whether or not any seeds were/will be impacted.
