It's ivory with a light yellow tint. Low-light photographs make it appear more white. Opens nice and flat and has a clear rose-red eyezone with a greenish-yellow throat. Would benefit from a taller scape (not registered height here) and higher bud count, but in this hardy color class, it doesn't have a lot of competition.

I added Ruby Lipstick to the Island Bed in the Fall of 2022. Two fans grew to three fans by Spring. That summer of 2022, I only had four blooms, but at least I could see it was the right plant. By October, it was down to two slightly rusty fans.
This Spring, Ruby Lipstick was back to three fans and had a very successful bloom season. Blooming from July 13 to August 13, I counted 23 flowers.

It's a pretty flower, although mine has bloomed very close to the ground, nowhere near the registered height of 30", either year of bloom so far. Hopefully next year will show a taller scape. I really like red eyes and this one seems to be surviving pretty well. I've found that many red eyed Daylilies don't seem to like the North. Although it hasn't been growing like gangbusters, I'm pretty happy with this plant.

Planted in 2016 has had good and bad years, sometimes gets to registered height - like Mantis says, not a lot in this color range and bloom season for our northern climate

In the early years I grew it, Ruby Lipstick was the registered height or even taller. Then the grubs got to it, and it has been very short for the past five years. Here, where temps are often in the 90s during daylily season, the petals bleach out and look more white. I very much like the flowers and I have gotten a few pretty kids out of it.

I normally don't grow very many smaller flowers, but Ruby Lipstick intrigued me. When I first got the plant a few years ago, I just laughed and nearly tossed it straight from the box, but I planted it. It certainly wasn't an impressive looking thing when it bloomed the first year, and the second year, I dug it to toss it out, but had second thoughts and just put it in an area where those plants seem to congregate. I have been extremely busy this year and actually stumbled upon it one day when it was blooming and was actually taken with the vivid red against the white- and no red border. It also had a green throat. The plant is small in stature and those tend to get lost in my garden. Scapes are only at 20" and there are only two, sometimes three branches and from 12 to 14 buds. I was making a concerted effort to cut back on crosses this year, but it did have pods. I seriously doubt that it will keep avoiding the cut list, but for the time being, it is different from most things that I grow. I have to say that it has to be somewhat of a tough plant because I have certainly neglected it since it came here.

Ruby Lipstick has been here several years. I believe that I got it from Debra @shive1 many moons ago. It has performed well until this year where it was over ran by a perennial petunia. I move it to a much better location a few months ago. i got several blooms from it despite the move. This one will always be in my garden as long as I can help it. As far as height is concern, my vague memory don't recall it getting past twenty six inches. I have never done a bud count check. I recommend it for the mid border wholeheartedly.
