Hi fellow Daylily lovers!

It's time for that annual tradition, the Parade of NOIDS. As many of you know, I have quite a few. These are the ones without names, that are all probably originally named, I just don't know what their names are. With some of them, I have a few clues but with others, no idea at all. If anyone feels like venturing any guesses, I'm always looking for answers! So here we go!

NOID #001, the closest flower I've seen to this in pictures is Little Christine

NOID #003, lots of this in the yard, very showy, with a long bloom time. After looking at lots of old pictures on historic websites, I suspect this is a Stout Daylily called Dominion
Thumb of 2023-10-31/Zoia/98ef67

NOID #004, this could be Camp Out, a Wild Daylily I planted somewhere or it could be Golden Treasure, I found a buried tag nearby
Thumb of 2023-10-31/Zoia/302f6a

NOID #005, this one is so pretty with a very long bloom season
Thumb of 2023-10-31/Zoia/d6a607

NOID #006, nice and tall, big cinnabar flower, a very unusual red
Thumb of 2023-10-31/Zoia/82cbf6

NOID #007, a lovely, delicate late bloomer
Thumb of 2023-10-31/Zoia/f394cb

NOID #008, there are two Wild plants I found that resemble this, one is Regal Air, the other is Great Chieftain
Thumb of 2023-10-31/Zoia/f8926d

NOID #009, there is a good chance this one is Chicago Silver
Thumb of 2023-10-31/Zoia/d745e7

NOID #010, this a very pretty delicate looking flower
Thumb of 2023-10-31/Zoia/d0fa24

NOID #011, this is recent purchase that lost it's tag and I can't figure it out…possibly Split Infinitive but really not sure

NOID #012, at the top of Daylily Hill, by the Oak tree
Thumb of 2023-10-31/Zoia/0ab145

NOID #013, a nice yellow, this could also be Golden Treasure
Thumb of 2023-10-31/Zoia/b35b58

NOID #014, really like this nice plum dark one
Thumb of 2023-10-31/Zoia/628217

NOID #015, an awesome and prolific flower
Thumb of 2023-10-31/Zoia/d00388

NOID #016, a classic old school pink
Thumb of 2023-10-31/Zoia/9f7740

NOID #017, sold to me as Ming Toy but it isn't

NOID #019

NOID #025, could be Sea Gold
Thumb of 2023-10-31/Zoia/31e297

Thumb of 2023-10-31/Zoia/479ce9

NOID #029, something very, very old
Thumb of 2023-10-31/Zoia/60248c

NOID #046, one of many confusing reds
Thumb of 2023-10-31/Zoia/926f9a

I love 005 Lovey dubby and 009 reminds me of Indian Giver. Google Lens suggests it as well and also Prairie Blue Eyes...but the white edge is what looks like Indian Giver to me.

Could 003 be Poinsettia? That one is still around in a lot of gardens. It was also Daylily of the Day and got a few reviews.

Forgive me if I suggested this last year. I don't remember.

I have seen this plant for sale at reputable nurseries represented as having the registered name 'Hall's Pink'.
But there is no such cultivar in the AHS/ADS database.
D.F. Hall did register a busload of pinks, many with no picture. However, maaaaaybe the cultivar 'Theresa Hall' has survived the decades and mound of daylilies that have piled on top of the database since Hall last registered cultivars. Taking in to account that photos can really differ in hue whaddya think?

Also just guessing here...'Theresa Hall' would have probably been one of the best he felt he had to offer since it is named in honor of a family member (wife/daughter?)and favoring it he may have promoted it more than his kazillion other pink ones. It is easy to see how time and word of mouth changed 'Theresa Hall' into 'Hall's Pink'.
Thatz just a hypothesis. 😊

Don't think #26 is Butterfly Kisses. Form doesn't look right. Not familiar with Lilac Champagne. Data base says that one is a very late bloomer. Butterfly Kisses is an early mid season. Yours reminds me of George Caleb Bingham, but you have that one, I believe.

Ok, I'll answer things backwards. Hawkeye, I'm pretty sure it's not George Caleb Bingham, doesn't look like my plant. But I'll strike Butterfly Kisses off the list.

Nan, I don't think NOID #003 is Pointsettia. That one has a very defined center and distinct white ribs. It's also shorter and smaller than my plant. But I am pretty convinced mine is a Stout hybrid and the closest I've seen is Dominion. But I just looked at the photos here on NGA and now I'm not sure it's that one either. It looked like older photos I've seen of it though.

SummerBee, I have Indian Giver. This is not that plant.

Here is Indian Giver

Here is Chicago Silver

I know it's subtle but Chicago Silver was hybridized in 1973 and Indian Giver is from 1991. It has a more modern look and feel, as well as a green throat. Mine looks and feels closer to the older model.

EmmaROCallis, that is all super interesting info about all of the Hall hybrids. I had no idea he was known for his pink selections!

BTW, I might have a lead on NOID #042. It could be Royal Flair

Zoia, I have Chicago Cattleya. It is somewhat similar to Joy's photo of Chicago Silver in form. The word that springs to my mind to describe it is "blousy." It's a little recurved but not nearly as much as your lovely NOID #9. I also have Butterfly Kisses, which I would describe as a big honking star shape:)

Your #3 reminds me of my NOID that I thought was Campfire Embers, until it refused to set pods with other tets. I've been looking at old Saxon intros but haven't come up with anything either! I'd love to visit the gardens at North Dakota State someday to see if they have anything like it.

Feel like I've lusted over #4, but it was listed as display only. But I don't remember where I saw it!

Here are my guesses. Four of these look quite similar to ones I have.

#1 looks like my Raspberry Wine
Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Raspberry Wine')

#17 looks my Majestic Red - there is no picture on this site - I've included one from my garden

#20 looks like my Hyperion
Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Hyperion')

#33 looks like my Bettylen

#41 bears resemblance to Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Grand Masterpiece'), in particular one of its children, Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Ruffled Royalty'). At least to me, it does. Lovey dubby

Gwenron, I think you nailed them all. It's funny, because in 2019, G Wild sent me NOID #033 labeled as Bestseller but they also sent me Bettylen in the same box. There have turned out to be tons of misidentified flowers in that order that I have spent subsequent years trying to straighten out. I only just noticed this year that those two flowers resembled each other, because they were planted in different locations.

Raspberry Wine has the right height (20") the right flower size ( 5") and that seersucker texture that is relatively unusual. The only thing that doesn't line up is that it is listed as a late. But checking my bloom dates, the flower has been all over the place, from E, to M to ML. So, I'm going with this attribution.

Here's some more of NOID #017, please confirm if you think these look like your Majestic Red

I think Hyperion is definitely NOID #020. It is tall, and original to the house. I bought the property in 1992, with many old plantings from previous owners, dating back to 1932. Many of my NOIDS are plants that were already here when I moved in.

Strigeidida, I could believe NOID #036 ( not #041) could be Ruffled Royalty. They both have that tiny pencil line white edge and similar shape and coloring… here are more photos…what do you think?

I'm so glad I was able to help cross four off of your list! Smiling

Bettylen - I got my Bettylen from G Wild also, so that must be it!

Raspberry Wine - Yes! Seersucker texture is a perfect description! I've always liked that about this flower. My blooms haven't seemed to follow the late listing either. Two years ago (the first year) it bloomed ML and this year it was EM-M.

Majestic Red - @DeweyRooter suggested I upload the picture to the gallery. Thank You! I just uploaded four pictures. One of the single bloom pictures looks almost identical to your last picture with the curled petals. There are also two pictures with multiple blooms for more comparisons.

Hooray for solving some of the mysteries!!!

I know exactly what you mean by "seersucker" texture. What an appropriate description! Which leads me to pose the question to anyone who grows Bitsy...do you see a little of that texture on it? I have been trying to verify a tag on one of my oldies that would be a child plant of Bitsy. My unverified plant has that sort of seersucker texture, but there are NO pictures of it to confirm. It matches the AHS database in all other respects, but yellows are about as hard to nail down as reds. I was thinking of buying Bitsy for analysis but would rather not add another yellow to my limited space.

I also want to point out that mine could be categorized as Autumn Red, which has a wide distribution. Autumn Red is registered at 40", Majestic Red at 28". I don't think mine is as tall as 40" but it is often neck and neck with Carmen Renee which is registered at 37"

They are both a lot shorter in that spot, maybe because of shade. Here's pictures of Autumn Red, you'll see why I'm not sure

Autumn Red sure could be a contender especially with the height being closer to yours. Mine has ranged from 20"-30" tall over the last four years so I think that puts mine pretty safely in the Majestic Red category. I got that plant from a somewhat local daylily farm and bought one whose name does not appear in the daylily database (that I can find at least). Since Majestic Red never had a picture included, I was always a little suspicious about whether the name was right for that one.
