Hi, around 3 days ago my mom found out some neighbors cut down a papaya tree and leave it on the trash, mom wants to know what to do to save it if is even possible. Is pretty big. it rained a lot so i dont know if that help it. Should we just plant or leave on water? we live in a tropical area so even on winter we got some nice sunny days. Thank you.

I have no experience with papayas, but I believe it would be impossible to save the whole tree. Perhaps she could root a cutting from the top? I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon to offer advice.

For lack of better advice, go ahead and try it. Good luck! And let us know what happens

And if no luck, try seeds. They volunteered from compost for me last year, several of them and fast growing.
Plant it and they will come.

I collect seeds

It is so easy to start them from seeds instead. I am in Florida and sometimes I have to pull them out.
