My FIL has gotten a kids plastic sled for hauling safely (hunted bear/deer) to help him move from the field to the house. Maybe the same thing will help your column moving, I'd think it would work as long as it's not too tall and it becomes top heavy and tips.

That's a good idea! I actually have a metal pipe thing with wheels that can be used to haul loads....maybe I can attach some heavy fabric to make a sling. I think moving the column lying down would be safest. Thanks! I honestly forgot all about that dolly thing until you mentioned moving carcasses (carcasi? Carcassae?) *HA!*

Dead things! That's what I generally call them, just dead! But my FIL needed a way to haul from the field if he got a black bear while everyone else was at work and a large kids plastic sled is what he has to help facilitate moving it out of the field.
