It will. And you can do this technique with smaller tools too, like put two trowels or small hand forks together to pry apart smaller clumps. I use that to separate grape hyacinths or snowdrops. And "forky things" is the correct gardening term. Just like
"pointy bits" when you're trying to describe the top of a bulb. And "twisty thingies" when you're talking about vines. *HA*
