Barbara Mandrell was new in my garden this past season, initially grew well and then faded. Did not bloom. I am hoping she'll return next Spring and do much better!

It was vigorous and a good multiplier here. However, in my climate that has heavy dew, the blooms were often splotchy. When they were not splotchy, the blooms were gorgeous.

In my climate here it has mostly problems in winter, looks terrible in spring, but it recovers later than.
It blooms every year though, but caused by the winter damage it does not multiply good here. The scapes are very tiny with low budcount I would say. The few blooms could be nice but inbetween there are surely better cultivars in that range of color. I only took one pic every year...

I am in zone 7a to 7b, we mostly have no snow which can protect all plants against frost temperatures. Especially the change between bare frost and rain/ moist soil is difficult to many especially floridian cultivars.

A disaster here. Short scapes, usually splotchy, very low bud count, and generally weak plant.

Slow to get established, does not meet registered stats. Spochy blooms,
Did finely start to multiple. Very pretty bloom when right.

I'm not a fan of this daylily. It always looks like it's in the edge of dying, and hasn't multiplied in four years. I initially split the plant, and now I've put them back together so it can have a better impact. I don't like to discard plants, but if I did need to make space, this plants space would be a quick spot to free up. I like the color, but the initial flowers are not uniform.

This one did not do well for me and died in its second year. Was freshly potted when I bought it and didn't recover well from that transition. Our yo-yo 7b winters are hard on evergreens.

It has been interesting to read about the poor performance of 'Barbara Mandrell' in gardens further north than my location. I only received the plant back in September 2022, so it has not been here long enough to know how will it will perform. It did manage to survive my spray mishap that stunted so many of my plants and killed a few, so it is a pretty strong plant down here. It did bloom in early May 2023, that was before the spraying disaster so the blooms looked normal and very pretty.

This upcoming 2024 season will be the most anticipated season I have ever had, I am looking anxiously to spring and the hopeful recovery of so many of my plants.
I am expecting that 'Barbara Mandrell' will be a good performer down here in a warmer climate than many reporting here. I would love to see more reports form people in Zones 8-9 on this plant.

I had this for a couple of years, it was never happy here. Mostly splotchy, short, not many blooms. It struggled and disappeared shortly after blooming in 2nd year.

I grow it in zone 9a (formerly 8b). It lacks vigor here and has smaller sized fans. I would not recommend it for my area.

Well darn, that is not a good recommendation for the plant. It does not seem to do well in any zone reporting so far, I will keep an eye on it this year and and try to remember to report back on how it has done here.
