Love this daylily! It is a heavy bloomer and grows well here in my Zone 3b garden. I get lots of compliments from people that tour my gardens. Didn't get any pictures last summer though, so none to share.

Hold Your Horses is one of my favorites! It is a heavy bloomer that holds up well in the heat. Large blooms. Well branched.

In first year last year, but based on the many photos I took, it was impressive even at this early stage! (I must delete some photos!! ) It was bold and I can only imagine what it will look like in clump form. Trimmer's evergreens, for the most part, do fine here (exception of one I've grown in my garden would be Tusk) It definitely took no time to 'settle in'....as many do. It was off and running but the season was a bit off as one of the first to bloom last year....next year it should be on course!

Just the name alone got my attention. Hold your Horses..it is an outstanding huge beautiful daylily.

I have a few plants referenced to horses.
One example is 'Happy Trails' , & 'Wild horses' - Roses.
Will look into the daylily's.

This one is a big, bold beauty! I like the intensity of the maroon eye, and appreciate the clean yellow base. It has good rebloom here and attractive foliage. June 4th, '22:

The plant didn't do well when I had it in the dry shade under dogwoods a few years ago, but it bulked up well when I moved it into the sun and gave it good soil. 6/8/22:

It shows fertility both ways, although pod challenging here.

Don't own it, so no review. But I had to stop and say WOW! It's very photogenic. Wonderful pictures by all of you that included them.

Lyshack,
So does the double negative imply you have one on order?

I'm trying to think of what existing plant I wouldn't mind removing to make room for it. I have a few months to figure it out.

Greg, I Googled it and it seems to be in a lot of the mail order catalogs and I even saw it in a Lowe's response. I'd be checking local growers over those catalogs and box stores, but it seems to be popular out there.

@Sscape There are daylily growers on the prairies further North than Leonard, MN (47.7° N) at, for example, Red Deer, AB ( 51.2° N) who successfully grow daylilies registered as evergreens. I am at 44.3° N and grow a substantial number of daylilies registered as "evergreen". I do not bother to check the registered "foliage" classification when I consider purchasing a daylily hybridized further south of me (that is most daylilies).
Although I am not concerned about the hardiness of daylilies simply because they are registered as "evergreen" I do examine where they were hybridized and where their ancestors were hybridized. Plants do not usually remain adapted (by natural selection) to environmental conditions that they do not experience and that their ancestors have not experienced. If a daylily has been hybridized in a location with a mild winter climate and if many generations of its ancestry have been hybridized under similar mild winter conditions then no matter what its "foliage" registration, it is less likely to be as hardy as a cultivar with its own or ancestral history of being hybridized in more extreme winter climates.

Hey Maurice, Yes, I am suspicious of Florida bred daylilies. R W Munson warned of this in his book back in the 80's. Knowing that people are wary of this, one Florida hybridizer lists ALL of his plants as Sev. REALLY!?? For a long while I did not buy from Florida---could not afford the $ loss. I do now because the $ loss is not that important, and I like to find that needle in the haystack. And, I get to breed the "soft" ones that are soooo pretty with hard dormants to create real Sev's.

I am still working on my catalog and should have it ready soonish. Tens of thousands of pictures. Hundreds of daylilies. It's taking a while! Rolling my eyes. I have a few fans of Hold Your Hoses available. I'll keep y'all posted.

The trouble is, I'm going through all these gorgeous pictures and keep finding new ones from over the years. It kindles a special kind of enthusiasm... Whistling

I just bought this daylily on the Lily Auction. I talked to Dan Trimmer about it and he said it grows like a weed. Told him I hope it does!!
