I was at Lowes today and picked up Sweet Tea and this beauty. She is a bit sparse, but I am pretty sure that I can bring her back to her former splendour. Any ideas as to which heuch I am?

I would have to say Midnight Rose , either a mutation of it or a cross. If it stays that way when you bring it back to health send a pic to Terra Nova and see what they think . You never Know they may want tp produce it. I would want one.

Bob - it does remind me of midnight rose, but as you mentioned - the coloring is off for MR. I am wondering if perhaps it could be sport? In any event, I was thinking of treating like my MR.

Yes that was what I thought it was at first but decided to let someone with more experience answer this question. That would be great to have a marbled Huerc.

I so agree. My fear is that somehow it will outgrow the marbled affect. I won't know until it has successfully overwintered and come back the following year.

I think it is a midnight rose that has had too much sun. I saw some like that at a greenhouse one time. Not quit as marbled though. Very pretty, wish the breeders would get more wild with the patterns. I like the spotted ones.

Julia - we will see. It is going into an area that is very similar to where my mr is planted, so that they have the same type of conditions. I wish the breeders would go more crazy with patterns too!

It is about time they came out with one . It has been a long time since French Quarter was released. While Galaxy is nice it does not show the spotting as much as I would like.

French Quarter has been on my want list forever, Bob! I agree, time for them to come out with some new ones.

I agree would have been better with more spots. Some of these are so similar to ones already on the market. Carolyn keep us updated on your plant. It is a beauty. I was told that French Quarter and some of the others must be propagated by cutting so that's why they are hard to find. T

They can get crazy as long as they do not create another 20 buck annual. Crazier and hardier would be good.

Hi All!

I just read this and was actually thinking the opposite about the Midnight Rose - maybe it's MR that hasn't gotten enough sun? The extra variegation would be counter-intuitive in that instance, but my MR faces south and gets sun nearly all day (-in zone 5), and it's really dark maroon with the pink spotting.

It also reminds me a bit of my Mardi Gras (thank you so much Bob!) which gets sun from 11ish until early evening in mid summer.

Not positive whether it survived Bob. Last year was not a good gardening year for me. I will know better in the spring to see if anything comes up. Keep your fingers crossed.

It has been a long time since I can remember one so bad. It is either freezing or snowing. Not looking forward with is what is supposed to come tonight. Only good thing is with all the snow I can not see how sad my poor plants look. With the extreme cold we have been having the last time I saw my Heuchera they were almost all shriveled up. Hope they make a come back this Spring.

We received 14 inches of snow last night. I have a date with the snowblower - this does not thrill me. Sunday we are supposed to get more. Angry

Bob - we too have had the extreme cold. This has probably been the worst winter I remember. They say it is the worst in 20 years, but my issue with that is we were having -20 wind chills during part of January. I have lived in this area since 1967, with 10 years off in Rochester and never, even in the Rochester area, since that time period did we have that type of wind chill.

I am hoping to salvage the day and spend some time with my houseplants. I was also thinking of planting some hollyhock seeds.

Think spring - I know we look forward to it every year, but this year it will be such a relief. At least when we get weather in the spring we know it is transitional and closer to better weather. Sticking tongue out

I would think the snow would protect the plants to some extent. It was cold here last night around in the 20's and we have no snow cover. Cold at night but the bluebird days are fantastic. My plants look pathetic.

My son is flying into Chicago Saturday, hope he gets in between storms, big interview for school.

Good luck to your son. I have flown out of Chicago Ohare, but not into it. It is a huge airport.

The main problem was when we had the severe cold there was no snow cover so the plants took a beating.
