Anyone know what this could be? It's a flowering vine growing on a tree in the San Francisco Botanical Garden. There was no tag for it, and I didn't see any staff to ask.

Bomarea sp, but not sure the species, most likely B multiflora, they can be yellow to orange spotty or almost plain. But there are other possibilities since Bomareas are the most diverse genus of Alstroemeriaceae. the Peruvian lilies family

Its a Bomarea, a really big vine known for knocking down trees. Hilarious! Not an orchid, a climbing Alstroemeria. I think there's some in Golden Gate Park too.

Edited to add: The one in the S. F. Botanical Garden is Bomarea caldasii

The flowers remind me of Fuchsia but I don't have a clue if there are yellow Fuchsia. Pretty whatever it is!

Thanks Lucy68! I was way off thinking Fuchsia!

Here's a yellow Bomarea photo from our database for comparison:

Wonderful, thank you. Thumbs up

I only saw one while we were wandering around. Those bright yellow flowers really caught my eye though.
