Yesterday (Feb.8th) we had a very special visitor on our ozakazuki japanese maple tree. A Barred owl decided to sit on the tree for at least 15 minutes. I managed to get within 10' (3 meters) of it and take a picture. My wife also took a picture of me taking the picture!

On a completely different topic. What is the weeping conifer on the right side of the picture? My wife is a big fan of weeping trees and she needs to know. SWMBO has spoken.

It is a gold mop Cypress shrub. We purchased that over 30 years ago and have slowly pruned and trimmed as it grew. We also have one in the front garden that has much more dramatic pruning to really open it up
