“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference to that one!” Be the change you wish to see in the world. http://www.stillsthatspeak.com...

I picked up some of their perennial bare root bags yesterday. There were 5 in each bag. Got 2 old fashioned bleeding hearts and 1 christmas fern. Decided to pot up the bare roots in nursery pots vs putting them directly in the ground. I've always been a bit wary of bare roots, but decided to give them a try. They looked big and healthy. The cost was $13.99 which works out to be $2.80 per plant.

Bonnie picked up this garden bench today. She splurged as an early birthday present for herself. I think she said it was $250. I've not seen them there before this year. Made out of poly and very sturdy.

Very nice! I saw that too...lot's a good stuff. I've had mixed luck with bagged bare roots...always try to soak them in water with super thrive before planting...kinda feel like that's helped some.

Bare root phlox, bleeding heart, caladium and begona tubers, oriental lily bulbs from Costco all did well for me. A couple of the begonias haven't sprouted yet, and the rest are very slow (been sitting there with 1 leaf for several weeks), but the rest all looks fine. One of the bleeding hearts ('Luxurient') is even blooming now!

I do need to get over there and see what all they have this year.

Since we don't have a BJ's thread I'll mention here - mini orchids only $5.99 and various others sizes more expensive. I'll try to remember to post a pic here tonight.

I got Mom a mini orchid at Wegmans last fall... back in the floral department... I think it may have been $8. With Mother's Day coming up, keep an eye out for orchids at Costco and Aldi!

and LIDL. Our Lidl has more flowers than our Aldi- but then, my closest Aldi is older and pretty small.
I saw flowers at Weis, and then D'Oh! should have bought a little primrose at the nursery, under $5 I think.
Plant it and they will come.
