I haven't had this plant for very long. I received it in Spring of 2022 from Laura ( TwixnDud). I got no bloom that summer but by October it was at 6 fans.

In 2023, JOTO had lost two fans over the winter, to start April with four total. It bloomed July 11- August 15 with at least 17 blooms, a nice long set. By October, it was back to six fans.

It's still early to give an evaluation. The flower is nice, the color is unusual but otherwise undistinguished. The scapes were pretty short this season but so were many other plants, reacting to a hard late freeze that stunted things all over the country. I suspect it will be quite pretty, once it gets rolling. I like that it bloomed for over a month!

Jewel of the Oasis is the most stunning lavender flower I have ever seen. I visited Curt's garden and was absolutely blown away by the captivating color of this flower, and it's not like there weren't other flowers to look at. I couldn't quit staring at it trying to figure out what its magic was because yes it does have a rather unremarkable shape but it WAS back in 2006 when this gem was introduced.
When boxed plants arrived in late fall there had been a mixup with my PO Box and my physical address. The result was that the lilies were in a box for 2 weeks and arrived dead brown and dried. Amazingly they all survived and bloomed the next year. Jewel of the Oasis gives new meaning to the word lavender. I regret I cannot offer a pic.

Correction. The hybridizer uses lilac and orchid to describe the color, not lavender. But you know what I mean.

The color in the database pictures are varied, but each one is a beautiful shade. I don't have this one, but I like the classic simple form.

I have been growing this cultivar of Curt's for a few years now. It was not particularly easy to find here in Canada but I was lucky and did find it . The color is like nothing I have seen on any other daylily. Not quite blue , not quite mauve , not quite like any other bloom I have growing here. It is breathtaking . It is spotable from across the garden bed and every time I see it I am drawn to it and just stand there and stare at it with admiration. The fact that it does well in my gardens that are composed of really heavy clay is another bonus especially since we go through really intense droughts most summers here and being on a well it is impossible to water the garden beds . So plants here are on their own and Jewel of the Oasis is a trooper. There are lots of pretty daylilies out there but in my opinion Jewel of the Oasis is one of the most outstanding cultivars that I grow .

Curt said during his presentation to NEDS last Saturday, that all of his daylilies are field grown in extremely clay filled soil. So that is what he is hybridizing for success in a 5b zone.

Such great information on JOTO! Growing in clay soil is what my daylilies have to contend with, so it is appreciated when a hybridizer takes that into consideration.

I've always been drawn to this one, but the wide variance in color in database photos put me off. It seems to be prettier grown far north.
