Hello!
How to kill poison ivy?
Last year I dug it up with its roots, but probably not enough; this spring it is growing again.

How much of it? How big is the plant now?

I usually just hand pull.
When I have a good bit of ground covered, and the vines are rooting, I go after it with a mattock, pile up and allow the sun to cook.

Usually pretty easy. Not like wisteria or japanese honeysuckle.

Of course... if you're allergic... might not be the solution that it is for me.

If practical at the location, boiling water should kill it. An older, established root system could need multiple applications, and/or a little moat dug around it so the heat really penetrates the specific area where the roots are.
The golden rule: Do to others only that which you would have done to you.

nature keeps amazing me
I've used straight out of the bottle bleach. It worked but in a smaller application. Just a vine abour 10ins or so. When I see one starting I douse it with bleach then wash my hands and anytools used with Fels-Naptha bar soap. I really don't care if this soap in environmentally safe as it is petroleum based -it works and that's all I want it to do. I don't use any other chemicals

We don't have poison ivy, just its cousin poison oak. If I can't pull it, roundup does the job, especially in the fall.
