Why would the stems fuse? We've had a lot if rain this year. First time this plant has had two stems. Stem is about 12 inches tall. Plant is over 10 years old.

Often referred to as fasciation and this usually happens in the meristem region - the region between roots and stems. This will likely not happen again so you can enjoy two stems next year Rolling on the floor laughing
