I've been wanting to add this feature since I added acorns to the site and it's now finished!

Now to reward people for a particularly good contribution, in addition to giving them a thumbs up, you can show your SUPER appreciation by giving a publicly viewable acorn tip to that member! Just click on the acorn icon next to the thumb icon. It'll ask you how much you want to send and off you go.

First person to reply to this post will get a tip from me.

We've always been able to send acorns to other members, but never directly in response to a contribution,and never in a public manner. This achieves both.

When you see a post that has been tipped acorns, you know that it's a really special post.

You can tip on any item that also has the thumbs feature. That means image sets, photos and comments in the database, ideas, blog entries and everything else.

LOVE me some acorns! (Hint, Hint!) Cool beans! Er, I mean, acorns.

The acorns don't seem to be coming out of our acorn stash, do they?
Just grabbing them right off the tree, right?

They come out of your stash. Check your profile and see how many acorns you have. Then give someone a tip and check again and you'll see the number is down by whatever the tip amount was.

How do you give partial acorns?

Just enter a fractional number like "0.01" or "0.5" (without the quotes, of course).

This is a really great feature since it includes posts on the different forums. I always give lots of thumbs (I also like to get them), but sometimes some really good tips, ideas, photos - are in a thread and often don't make it to the front page. This is a great way to let members know we appreciate what they've said.
