Did you post that first one a little while ago? The one you said had no scent that sparked a lot of conversation? Regardless, I'm still leaning toward oregano, but I think we need to see it flower. No idea about the second.
The second is what I call a Canada thistle (although our Canadian neighbors take umbrage at that, and it isn't native there) - Cirsium arvense.
Exceedingly difficult to eliminate… Full strength Roundup concentrate paintbrushed onto the growing point will work.
