Common Purslane (Portulaca oleracea)
Data base lists this one as an annual.
Nothing that's been done can ever be changed.

Hi Maggie and welcome to ATP Welcome! Welcome!

I don't see your zone. I'm in zone 7 and for me, it is a re-seeding annual.

We have a purslane/portulaca forum here on ATP and it's located here:

There are many different Purslane. Portulaca as jmorth mentioned aboveā€¦But also Calandrinia, and Sesuvium. Many if not all of these are listed as annuals, tender perennials, and tropicals.
Hope that helps. Smiling

Welcome! Maggie. The one with the yellow flowers grows wild here for me...it just pops up here and there every year. I have a lot in my pots that got self sowed in the summer/fall...I leave it because I like to "graze" on it while watering in summer or working in the GH in winter.

Hi Maggie, and Welcome! to All Things Plants.
It reseeds easily in my zone 8 in the PNW. I love to eat it if you are talking about the wild type.
I also find the the ornamental portulaca will reseed here, but is not perennial.
