There are many different Purslane. Portulaca as jmorth mentioned aboveā¦But also Calandrinia, and Sesuvium. Many if not all of these are listed as annuals, tender perennials, and tropicals.

Maggie. The one with the yellow flowers grows wild here for me...it just pops up here and there every year. I have a lot in my pots that got self sowed in the summer/fall...I leave it because I like to "graze" on it while watering in summer or working in the GH in winter.
Each cloud has a silver lineing if only you look for it.

It reseeds easily in my zone 8 in the PNW. I love to eat it if you are talking about the wild type.
I also find the the ornamental portulaca will reseed here, but is not perennial.
