I thought I'd start a new thread for October. We always see lots of Dragonflies around but we've had a lot of the Damselflies and a few Mayflies lately too. These are some close up shots I got today of an unknown Damselfly:
This first two photo show different wing positions:

Every time I see the damselfly/dragonfly, I think of my cousin, Ed. He is the author of Damselflies of the Northeast. He tracks them down and then illustrates them. I have an autographed copy Big Grin

Not much activity in the yard since I got back from Idaho. Had this visitor today.

Nice Dave ... I haven't seen any Gulf Frit's in a few weeks.

Hope your Idaho trip was great!

That's really cool Betsy! And you can click on the pictures & then read. How very, very neat!

How was the fishing in Idaho?

Thanks all. The fishing in Idaho was great. Ignore that ugly old man holding those beautiful trout. All released unharmed.

What ugly old man? Where? Beautiful fish! The rainbow is really pretty, nice size too. Looks like it was a bit chilly there? Ya mean you didn't even eat just one?

Nice catches Dave ... and I would not say there's an ugly old man in that photo either. You remind me of my brother in law who has the same mustache and beard ... and he's a fisherman too (saltwater). I've always loved beards; my husband wore a full beard for 42 years until he shaved it off two years ago but he still has the mustache. Smiling

I was tempted to take 1 cutthroat back to the lodge and have the chef cook it up for dinner because we caught so many of them that day. But.... the more I looked at each of them they all seemed to be just too beautiful to hit on the head. I guess I am just getting to be an old softie in my old age. My wife calls BS on that notion however. nodding

I know what you mean Dave. We used to fish all our lives (salt water) but we've lost the desire to. The last time we went fishing, it happened purely by accident, fishing with a lure & perchance reeling it in, 1 of the hooks caught a fish in the eyeball. That's the last time we fished. Going soft we are.

Dave, sounds like you had a very successful fishing trip, beautiful trout. Long time since I have caught a brown or a cut, we only have rainbow in our local lakes, not that I am complaining mind you, they are great fighting fish. Thumbs up

I love seafood; we eat a lot of it, and although most members of my family have been avid fishermen/women over the years I've only caught one fish in my life. We were fishing in Key West back in the 60's and I caught a pretty little yellow fish with pink eyes. I felt so bad when I reeled it in; someone removed the hook and threw it back in the water and it swam away but I felt so bad that I had hooked it! My husband and I take our little boat out on the water on occasion but it's just to relax and enjoy watching the sea life and shore birds. I love visiting my sister and brother in law in south Florida because my brother in law and my nephew go out fishing most every weekend and then fillet and grill it for dinner. There's nothing better than grilled Mahi, Tuna, Swordfish or Flounder etc. Green Grin!
